Already tributes have poured in from around the world from musicians and artists who knew him and many have asked for information relating to funeral arrangements.
His family have informed The Works that a service will be held at 1.15pm on Wednesday January 22nd at St Mary’s Church, Blackhill, Consett followed by cremation at Mountsett Crematorium Dipton.
Attendees are then invited back to Blackhill to the Cricketers Public House.
Freddie leaves a brother, Bill, sister Angela, son Joseph and daughters Debbie and Holly as well as three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
From humble beginnings Freddie stamped his mark on the rock n’ roll musical world with his own inimitable keyboard styling gathering fans from around the world.
Radio Caroline paid homage to his music during the week with a special ninety minute show featuring many of his recordings with fans and fellow musicians from around the world phoning in with their special memories.
An artist of his calibre can never be replaced or copied, the legacy of his music however will remain forever.
